NMIXX, Change Up!
NMIXX (Hangul: 엔믹스; Japanese: エンミックス; known pre-debut as JYPn) is a six-member South Korean girl group under JYP Entertainment, and the first JYP Entertainment group to have a lore and a unique universe concept. Originally as seven, they debuted on February 22, 2022 with the single album AD MARE.
Name Meaning[]
The name NMIXX is a compound word of the letter 'N', which stands for "now, next, new, and the unknown," and the word 'MIX', which symbolizes combination and diversity. When combined, the word NMIXX is created, which stands for "the best combination to take responsibility for a new era."[1]
History[]
Pre-debut[]
On July 8, 2021, SNS accounts for 'JYPn' were opened and a teaser titled "BLIND PACKAGE" was revealed.[2] The next day, another teaser was released, containing the phrase "Your Next Favorite Girl Group". Rumors began circulating that JYP Entertainment was planning to debut a new girl group. Later that day, JYP Entertainment confirmed the rumors, revealing the group's debut was slated for February 2022. Simultaneously, it was announced that a limited edition physical release of the group's first single would be available for purchase during a ten day pre-order period from July 16 through July 25.[3]
On August 3, 2021, a dance performance video posted on the group's official accounts revealed its first three members: Jinni, Jiwoo, and Kyujin.[4] Exactly a month later, on September 3, Sullyoon was revealed as the fourth member through a vocal cover of Sunmi's song "Full Moon".[5]
